Macross

Macross is now one of my all-time favourite cartoons.

Meanwhile Macross DYRL is a travesty, and Macross Plus isn't much better. Yet from what I've seen of the similarly-to-Macross decanonised Macross II, it's shaping up to be a decent show. Do the creators have no sense of taste when it comes to their own work or what ._.

Still over half of II to go though so it could fail off massively later on I suppose.

I'm somewhat apprehensive about how I'm going to feel about 7 when I get up to it now... 7 being the first one I had any contact with at (in SRW D) and essentially what got me vaguely interested in the series in the first place, but Macross itself is completely unlike what I understand Macross 7 to be like... Worrying.

What annoys me

People who try to cut out the final comma in a list, the one before the 'and'. As if the and does double duty as a list seperator and a final list item marker.

Do they ever consider a list like
Bacon and eggs and ham and pineapple
?

How does anyone know where the list is seperated? Of course it's reasonably obvious that it has to be the middle and, because having two ands in a row is normally bad grammar in a list, but the person who wrote it might HAVE bad grammar and actually mean Bacon, Eggs, and Ham, and Pineapple.

But most of all, commas are supposed to mark where you pause when you speak, and you DO pause before the and marking the final item in a list (unless you're a madman, because if you don't it sounds like it's a conjuction and instead of a list finaliser and).

On a completely unrelated note, why don't United Statespeople spell Country as Contry. It has the same ou sound as Colour, after all, unlike County. <s>For all that they should both probably be spelled Kuhluh and Kuhntree or such.</s>

Grr.

They take Family Guy and American Dad off two weeks ago so they can show the final of the Amazing Race. But that's okay because they had double of it last week.

They take Penn & Teller off this week for the final of Survivor. Do we get more of it next week?
No! We get it taken off AGAIN for the damned TENNIS.

And now I find out that Family Guy has been shoved to 11:15, and American Dad taken off... for fscking 24.

/me burns the TV stations

OH MY GOD I HAVEN'T UPDATED IN OVER A MONTH

So, recently I've been translating Berwick Saga's skills out of the book for the FEWiki. Speaking of the FEWiki it's getting close to 200 articles! Hooray.

Played through Maru's Mission again, which makes that like the fourth time in a fortnight. Helps that it's the easiest and shortest platform game of all time.

FE4 momentum has fallen through the floor, like we all didn't see that coming a mile away anyway.

...I know why I never post anything here ._. I never have anything interesting to say. Whatever.

Oho, I could always complain about them taking Penn & Teller off tonight so they could show the final of Survivor. God damn TOOLS.

How many keys are on your keychain?
3. Car, house, room.

What curse word do you use the most?
I don't.

Do you own an iPod?
No.

What time is your alarm clock set for?
6:15. But it doesn't wake me up despite being set on volume 17 (normal listening volume being 10).

How many suitcases do you own?
Zero.

Do you wear flip-flops even when it’s cold outside?
Assuming you mean thongs... my thongs are broken at the moment so I use them as little as possible. In general if I'm going to be pottering around outside and it's not muddy I won't wear anything on my feet.

Where do you buy your groceries from?
Buying groceries is not currently my concern. I'd probably have to say the local IGA.

What was the last movie you watched?
Scary Movie 3, I think.

Do any of your friends have children?
An ex-friend does. Can't say any of my current friends do. For all that that amounts to like 4 people.

If you won the lottery, what would be the first thing you buy?
I have no idea. I would probably put money towards paying off some of my immediate family's debts before buying anything.

Has anyone ever called you lazy?
I CALL MYSELF LAZY. It's less worth asking that and more worth asking 'Has anyone ever NOT called you lazy?'.

Do you ever take medication to help you fall asleep faster?
No.

Do you prefer regular or chocolate milk?
Either.

Has anyone told you a secret this week?
No.

What did you have for dinner?
Toast w/cheese and vegemite.

Can you whistle?
Yes.

Have you ever participated in a protest?
No.

Who was the last person to call you?
God only knows.

What is your favorite ride at an amusement park?
If I went to amusement parks ever, that might be answerable.

Do you think people talk about you behind your back?
Paranoia says: Yes!

What area code are you in right now?
3370

Did you watch cartoons as a child?
Who didn't?

How many siblings do you have?
One brother.

Are you shy around the opposite sex?
Generally.

Have you ever had Jamba Juice?
Never heard of it.

When was the last time you laughed so hard your sides hurt?
Not a common occurence. It takes a fair amount to make me laugh at all.

What movie do you know every line to?
Not that fanatical about any movies.

Do you own any band t-shirts?
Don't think so.

When was your last plane ride?
The same as most of the population of the world: never.

How many chairs are at your dining room table?
Six.

What is your favorite salad dressing?
I have no knowledge on the topic: salad dressings. I eat salad as little as possible as it is.

Do you read for fun?
I used to. Not so much nowadays, but still occasionally.

Can you speak any languages other than English?
Did French throughout High School... was never any good at the speaking part as it was, and I'd assume most of what I could do has atrophied severely by now.

Do you do your own dishes?
I used to do everyone's dishes. Now we have a dishwasher. I don't trust it.

What color is your bedroom painted?
Paint. PAINT. My bedroom has faux-wooden sheet wall things. No paint is involved.

Have you ever cried in public?
Can't remember.

Do you have a desktop computer or a laptop?
Desktop. Laptops are inferiority personified (computerified?).

Are you always trying to learn new things?
Not constantly. If the oppurtunity is there, though.

Do you shower on a daily basis?
Whenever I remember to.

Are you currently wanting any piercings or tattoos?
No.

Can you skip rocks?
No.

Have you ever been to Jamaica?
No.

What do you like to snack on at the movie theatres?
Popcorn. Popcorn is high on the list of reasons to actually GO to movie theatres.

Would you ever date someone covered in tattoos?
I have no idea.

What was your favorite class in high school?
Oh god. Assuming this is restricted to year 12 for sanity's sake... probably Physics. Or English Language. Or Specialist Maths...

Do you enjoy traveling via airplanes?
MOST PEOPLE HAVE NEVER BEEN ON A PLANE ONCE, LET ALONE MANY TIMES

What personality trait is a must-have in the opposite sex?
Not something I've ever really considered.

When was the last time you slept on the floor?
I have no idea.

What is your favorite alcoholic drink?
If I had ever HAD an alcoholic drink, it might be possible to answer this question.

Does your closest Starbucks have a drive-thru?
Eh. Think the closest is in the Mall, so no. Coffee is crap anyway.

Do you like your living arrangement?
I don't mind it.

What is your mother’s hometown?
Isn't this one of those questions they normally use as security for internet banking and such?

How many hours of sleep do you need to function?
I don't need a lot of sleep, but I have a tendency to not wake up so I tend to get more than the lowest I can run on. Couldn't really say the amount of hours.

Do you eat breakfast daily?
I used to. I stopped because I kept getting up late and it was time that could easily be freed up.

Are your days full and fast-paced?
The opposite.

Did you ever get in trouble for talking in class?
Don't recall that ever happening.

What is your favorite fruit?
I can stand apples. They'll have to do.

Do you pay attention to calories on the back of packages?
No.

How old will you be turning on your next birthday?
23.

Are you picky about spelling and grammar?
Not as much as I used to be, but still fairly so.

Do you believe in life on other planets?
Not any of the other planets around here. Probably some on some planets elsewhere. They're never going to reach here, so there's not really any point worrying about it.

Have you ever been to Six Flags?
Never heard of it.

Who was the last person to piss you off?
Likely my brother. He does it often enough.

Do you believe that God has a gender?
No.

What was the last thing you ate?
A knotty roll.

Do you get along better with the same or opposite sex?
I am rarely in situations where I have to get along with anyone.

What did you dress up as for your first Halloween?
We do not celebrate Halloween.

How did your parents pick your name?
That guy on All Creatures Great And Small.

Do you like mustard?
No.

It's been more than a month since I wrote anything here, huzzah!

So we went into Highpoint Shopping Centre in Melbourne today. I didn't really plan on buying anything because there wasn't really anything I wanted at the current time, but I wouldn't have minded getting a book in the New Jedi Order series, having received several audiobooks of it for christmas and having a gap between two of them. So we went to Dymock's and Angus & Robertson, but neither of them had it, which was somewhat surprising... the choice in the two stores really wasn't much better than the choice at the stores in Ballarat. So we went off to look at the game stores, and completely as expected there were no games out that I was willing to spend money on. Closest to that would be Geist, Pokémon XD, or Mario & Luigi DS but none of them I care enough about at the current time, so we didn't worry too much about them. Then my brother wanted us to see if anywhere had any DnD sourcebooks.

The only place in Highpoint that matches that sort of description is Games Workshop. But completely as expected they only had Warhammer stuff, what with being the company that makes it and all ._. Picked up a magazine, and they told us to try Borders, which was another book store we hadn't gone to before, due to having never heard of the place and it being right down the end of the centre.

Bad reasoning.

THE PLACE WAS HUGE. IT HAD TWO FLOORS, FOR CRYING OUT LOUD.

They even had
a whole row
of actual manga-style books
not those crappy thin comic-shaped children's books that pretend to be manga
the short thick stuff like Battle Royale and so forth
you barely get any of the comic-ones in Ballarat, let alone any of that type
not that I wanted any anyway, just registering my surprise at it

I got
the Star Wars book I wanted
Belgarath the Sorceror
Polgara the Sorceress
The Redemption of Althalus
and a Tom Holt book
for a bit under $100
unfortunately they were not hard-cover ones ._. oh well

And then my brother completely eclipsed my costs with only two DnD books and a Discworld artbook >_> crazy expensive DnD books.

So TRS2 finally finishes downloading.

And I find that everything's not all nicely split up like I've come to expect from most filesystem'd games. No, everything's in a couple huge archives. Bah.

But I shall perservereeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

I checked my email yesterday afternoon to find that I'd finally gotten a reply from the lecturer the afternoon the day before, saying the supp was going to be held yesterday at around 1. That was great, having less than a day of warning and missing it anyway. She said that in the email that they might be holding another supp later in the week as well.

But after talking to her today it turns out that she has remarked my exam and I fell over the pass limit this time anyway, so it doesn't matter that I didn't have the chance to take the supp (or would likely have been able to make it to the second one, considering I'm not going to be around from Friday). Lady Luck holds out once again.

...that's everything, then (Professional Practice doesn't count). Have to buy/hire some robes and a stupid hat sometime, then.

I actually did some 'useful' stuff today. Amazing.

Added options to the parser so we can change the text in FE6's opening movie without having it break, now. But we need a font. And it's fixed-width ;_; about 13 characters per line. Oh joy oh joy. Can't really add more lines because the screen fades out after a set time. fdkf;jdaskfas;lfdasf Fortunately the whole line fades in at once, so it doesn't matter how long each line is.

Found the names lists in TRS. They were in the executable instead of one of the message files -_- It seems that it follows FE4/5's method of having seperate font lists and swapping between them with font codes (in addition to the fonts each message file carries around with it). Started to make a list of each font, but I remembered how worthless that was in FE6, so I stopped.
AND EVERYTHING IS FIXED WIDTH. GARDFSKFJDLKRJLKRFDSFD.
